Jim Robbie (New Zealand), 20/21st century. Small New Zealand native Matagouri wood candle holder with natural cracks, defects, and darker burls within the wood natural cracking and spalting. Marked with brass artist's seal, inscribed in pen, Jim Robbie 2003, and numbered 931.
5" diameter, 7" including handle, 3" height.
Matagouri is found only in New Zealand. It is very slow-growing and some plants on undisturbed river terraces can be over 150 years old. It is now protected under conservation laws.
