Ansel Adams
(February 20, 1902 - April 22, 1984) was a landscape photographer and environmentalist celebrated for his black-and-white images of the American West. He co-founded Group f/64, a collective of photographers who championed "pure" photography, emphasizing sharp focus and the complete tonal range of a photograph. Together with Fred Archer, he devised the Zone System, a precise image-making technique that enabled photographers to achieve brilliance.
