This unique vintage drawing of a roadrunner at speed, signed “J Fox,” comes from the personal collection of my great aunt Cleo Laplante (1903–1996), affectionately known as Miss Blackie.
Miss Blackie was a beloved figure in the Southwest, renowned for her acceptance and celebration of Native American culture. She owned the iconic Blackie's Cafe—a welcoming place where people from all backgrounds and walks of life gathered.
Due to her vibrant lifestyle, photography, and community spirit, she met hundreds, possibly thousands, of people, and this drawing is believed to have been created by one of those fortunate acquaintances.
Artwork: Original signed drawing “J Fox”
Subject: Roadrunner in motion
Size: 9 x 12 inches, framed
Frame: Vintage, with light aging but in good condition
Provenance: From Cleo Laplante’s personal collection
This piece is a wonderful blend of Southwest history, personal story, and creative art—a true collectible for lovers of regional culture and unique vintage art.
